Our verdict

If grooming drives your business, June is the better choice. It gives groomers a complete booking, pet-record, reminder, day-of, payment, and reporting workflow for $79/month. Gingr makes more sense when daycare, kennel capacity, and overnight boarding are the center of the operation.

This is not a choice between a basic product and an advanced one. It is a choice between two different operating centers. June goes deep on the work a grooming team performs all day. Gingr goes broad across a multi-service pet facility.

Full disclosure

I built June, one of the products discussed here. The pricing and product information below was checked against each company’s current public documentation, and I’ll point out where another product is the better fit.

Why grooming businesses are better served by June

June is not a lightweight scheduler. It connects the complete client and pet journey, from the first booking through checkout and follow-up, in one fast system built specifically for grooming teams.

Fill the calendar

Online booking uses real per-groomer availability. Clients can pay a deposit, save a card, and manage appointments in their portal.

Run every grooming day

Staff lanes, pet profiles, grooming history, groom tickets, Google Calendar sync, and automatic pickup texts keep the whole team aligned.

Protect every dollar

Checkout handles discounts, tax, tips, invoices, earnings, Square Terminal payments, deposits, and staff-confirmed no-show fees.

Grow without add-on chaos

Unlimited staff, 1,200 texts, 5,000 emails, roles, waivers, vaccine records, Business Health, and free migration are included.

June vs Gingr at a glance

June keeps the calendar, pet history, grooming ticket, client communication, checkout, and shop numbers in one continuous flow. Gingr’s extra complexity pays off mainly when rooms, kennels, daycare capacity, feeding, and medication are daily requirements.

June vs Gingr pricing and messaging

June is $79/month with unlimited staff, all shipped features, 1,200 SMS segments, and 5,000 emails every month. Gingr Spa is $109/month for Spa, or $100/month billed annually. Gingr Play is $169/month and Stay is $179/month with active integrated payments.

Gingr includes automated notifications, but two-way and marketing texting sit in paid add-ons. Its All-in-One Messaging bundle costs $225 per subdomain per year, includes 1,000 sent or received segments monthly, and then adds usage charges. June’s included messaging makes the monthly bill easier to predict for a busy salon.

When Gingr is the better fit

Choose Gingr when boarding or daycare is not a side service but a large part of the business. Its Play and Stay plans include the capacity, kennel, feeding, medication, and full-day reservation tools those facilities need. A complex multi-location pet resort may also value its enterprise operations.

A grooming salon does not gain much from paying for operational breadth it rarely uses. If appointments, pets, groomers, client communication, and checkout are the heart of the business, June puts more attention and value exactly where the team feels it.

June is moving fast, on purpose

June is a newer product, but that is an advantage when you want modern software that keeps improving. Square Terminal sync shipped in July. Google Calendar sync followed in early August. On August 8, June shipped a third automatic reminder plus online deposits, card on file, and no-show fee workflows.

Native mobile apps, two-way texting, and mobile-grooming tools are on the public roadmap, alongside 23 more planned features. Roadmap items are never presented as live before they ship, but the recent release pace shows how quickly the product is expanding. Founding shops also get founder-led support and a direct voice in what comes next.
